At present, only two domestic brands passed SFDA's product registration for 3.0 Tesla superconducting MR. We proudly announce that Basda Medical is one of them.

 

 

 

During the past 6-7 years, though some domestic manufacturers have successively introduced some 1.5T superconducting MRI, the key technology of 3.0T magnetic resonance has always been in the hands of a few oversea well-known brands. To give a vivid example, 1.5T superconducting magnetic resonance is like an intermediate family car which everyone can drive and conquer well. However, the 3.0T superconducting MR is an F1 racecar, and only a professionally trained driver can skillfully drive it. The metaphor is also true in the field of MRI machines. The design and development problems of 3.0T MRI has long plagued the major domestic brands.

 

 

 

Let's take a look at what are the majority "difficulties" in the design and development of a 3.0T MRI?

 

 

 

The first problem, as we all know, there is imaging noise similar to "white noise" in MRI scans procedure. Most of the noise comes from electronic equipment inherent in the patient's body and the MRI system. One of the most important goals of developing a magnetic resonance is to increase the "signal" while reducing the "noise". In this term, it means to enhance the “signal-to-noise” ratio. In fact, the method of reducing noise and improving signal-to-noise ratio is completely different for 3.0T MRI compared with 1.5T MRI. The R&D team of Basda Medical has taken painstaking technical research and adapted a novel sequence architecture and acquisition technology to raise the signal-to-noise ratio of 3.0T MRI to a new level.

 

 

 

The second problem is how to balance the higher field strength and stronger radio frequency and gradient systems in order to obtain better image clarity while providing faster scanning speed. 3.0T MRI has twice the magnetic field strength of 1.5T MRI. The problem solving also tests the research and development capabilities of MRI manufacturers. Through independent research and development of the key imaging technologies, the R&D team of Basda Medical has achieved a perfect balance between the two.

 

 

 

The third problem is the high SAR value and image interference caused by the high-intensity radio frequency excitation of 3.0T MR. The biological effect of radio frequency pulses on the human body is mainly manifested in the heating effect, which is SAR. The more frequency energy absorbed by human tissues, the higher temperature the tissue gets. The increase in body temperature is related to the duration of the radio frequency pulse, the rate of energy deposition, the temperature and humidity of the environment, and the state of the patient's thermoregulation system. The heat generated by radio frequency is strongly related to the MR frequency. The higher the frequency, the greater the heat generation. Therefore, the radio frequency pulse SAR of 3.0T magnetic resonance is much greater than 1.5T. The R&D team has repeatedly tens of thousands of scanning experiments to optimize the RF hardware and sequence pulse design to ensure patients’ safety.

 

 

 

The fourth problem is the application. How to connect the clinical application of advanced MR sequences between the diagnosis and scientific research? For instance, how to further optimize the imaging effect of fiber bundle tracing under ultra-high field DTI imaging, and how to further enhance both the accuracy and the speed of rapid MRI scanning? How to enhance the efficiency and image quality of whole body mosaic imaging? How to further reduce the noise caused by the ultra-high field gradient system? How to combine both the automatic positioning and diagnosis technology containing artificial intelligence components together? Basda Medical’s R&D team works closely with the clinical expert team, conducts repeated experiment, and integrates advanced sequences and clinical practices to better serve the practical diagnosis.
